How to become a CAB

How to become a CAB

The following is a list of actions that your organisation should follow to become a CAB:

  1. Ensure that your organisation has the following items:
    1. Clear scoping for the schemes in which they will operate in.
    2. Already implemented a QMS (Quality Management System) according to the applicable standards.
    3. Has the technical expertise to perform testing, auditing, and certification activities.
    4. Has developed and implemented the necessary process to perform the testing, auditing, and certification activities.
  2. Seek accreditation from one of the recognised accreditation bodies in your member state. Your organisation will have to undergo the process of accreditation before is recognised as a CAB under any of the EU Certification Schemes. This process means that your organisation will be audited to check that your organisation adheres to the applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The audit may include thorough checking of your QMS (Quality Management System), technical expertise of the staff, and internal procedures.
  3. Once the organisation is accredited, it can start acting as a CAB.
